Three dedicated members of the Uckfield Community First Responders (CFR) team have been recognised in annual awards for their exceptional efforts in achieving Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) in patients who experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. Remarkably, these patients went on to survive for at least 30 days post-resuscitation—a significant benchmark in pre-hospital emergency care.
ROSC, particularly when followed by 30-day survival, is a critical indicator of successful early intervention in cardiac arrest cases. The swift actions of these CFRs, who are trained volunteers dispatched by the ambulance service,

played a pivotal role in stabilising patients before the arrival of paramedics.
Their recognition highlights the vital contribution of CFRs in bridging the gap between emergency calls and advanced medical care, especially in rural communities like Uckfield. These awards not only honour individual excellence but also underscore the importance of community-based emergency response in improving survival rates from cardiac events.
